Privacy Policy
1. Scope, Controller, and Single Purpose
1.1 Scope of this Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Tabon ("Tabon", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Tabon browser extension, the website at https://tabon.io/, and related Tabon services (collectively, the "Services").
This Policy applies to the Chrome and Microsoft Edge versions of the Tabon extension where substantially the same functionality is provided.
1.2 Tabon's Single Purpose
Tabon's single purpose is to help a user extract tables and repeating structured data from webpages selected by the user and export that data to spreadsheet-compatible files such as Excel or CSV.
Features such as single-page extraction, infinite-scroll extraction, click-pagination extraction, image/link export, preview, AI-assisted header recognition, and AI-assisted filename generation directly support this single purpose. Tabon does not request browser permissions for unrelated advertising, user profiling, or background browsing surveillance.
1.3 Contact
Privacy questions, data-access requests, and deletion requests may be sent to we@tabon.io.
2. Information Tabon Handles
2.1 Webpage Content Used for Extraction
When you start an extraction, Tabon may read the content and structure of the webpage you chose to process. Depending on the page and the extraction mode, this may include:
- table cells, text, numbers, dates, labels, and repeating list content;
- links and image URLs that you choose to include in an export;
- page structure and DOM information needed to detect rows, columns, tables, repeating elements, pagination controls, and infinite-scroll content;
- the current page URL and title when needed to identify the extraction source, coordinate the extension interface, or create a useful export filename.
This information is processed for the user-facing extraction task. Tabon does not use it to create a history of the websites you visit, build an advertising profile, determine creditworthiness, or sell information about your browsing activity.
2.2 Local Extension Data
Tabon may store limited operational information in browser-managed extension storage. This may include settings such as export preferences, extension options, feature selections, consent or preference state for optional features, and temporary task state needed to keep an extraction working correctly.
Local extension storage is used to make the extension function consistently between browser sessions. It is not used to create a commercial profile of your browsing behavior.
2.3 Account, License, and Subscription Information
If you use an account, paid plan, license, or subscription feature, Tabon may process information needed to identify the account and determine feature access. Depending on the feature, this may include an email address, internal account identifier, license or subscription status, plan type, transaction reference, and service entitlement information.
This information is used only for authentication, subscription or license verification, providing paid functionality, customer support, fraud prevention, and maintaining service reliability. Tabon does not need or receive your full payment-card number in order to operate the extension.
2.4 Support Communications
If you contact Tabon, we may receive your email address, the content of your message, and any information or files that you voluntarily provide. We use this information to respond to your request, investigate technical issues, and improve the reliability of the Services.
2.5 Technical and Security Information
When the website or extension communicates with Tabon service endpoints, our systems may automatically process basic technical request information such as IP address, user agent, request time, requested endpoint, response status, and error or abuse-prevention information.
This information is used for security, rate limiting, fraud and abuse prevention, debugging, availability monitoring, and maintaining service performance. It is not used for behavioral advertising or cross-site tracking.
2.6 Sensitive or Confidential Content on a Webpage
Tabon does not intentionally seek passwords, authentication secrets, financial account credentials, health records, or other sensitive information. However, because Tabon processes the webpage selected by the user, a table or repeated data structure may contain personal, confidential, or sensitive content chosen by the user.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to extract and export the content you process. If a page contains confidential or sensitive information, do not enable an optional feature that transmits a sample outside the browser unless you are permitted to do so.
3. Local Processing of Extracted Webpage Data
3.1 Core Extraction Is Performed Locally
Tabon's core table and structured-data extraction, preview, formatting, and export workflow is designed to run locally inside your browser. The extension reads the page selected by you, identifies the relevant data structure, and prepares the export on your device.
3.2 Exported Files
Excel and CSV files generated by Tabon are saved according to your browser and operating-system download settings. Tabon does not receive a copy of an exported file merely because you download it.
3.3 No Background Browsing Profile
Tabon does not continuously collect your browsing history for analytics, advertising, or profiling. Access to webpage content is used only as necessary to provide the extension's disclosed extraction functionality on pages that the user chooses to process.
4. Optional AI Processing
4.1 When AI Processing Occurs
Certain optional Tabon features may use artificial intelligence to infer useful column names, table headers, or export filenames. AI processing is not required for the core local extraction function and is used only when the relevant AI feature is enabled or intentionally requested by the user.
4.2 What Is Sent for AI Processing
To minimize disclosure, Tabon sends only a limited sample needed for the requested AI function rather than transmitting the entire extracted dataset. For table-header or naming analysis, this may include up to the first three cells from each detected column, together with minimal structural context necessary to generate the result.
4.3 Why the Sample Is Sent
The sample is used only to infer the semantic meaning of columns, generate more understandable headers, or create a meaningful export filename. It is not sent for advertising, user profiling, data brokerage, credit scoring, or unrelated model-training purposes by Tabon.
4.4 Who Receives the AI Sample
The limited sample may pass through Tabon's service infrastructure and may be processed by an external AI service provider used to generate the requested result. At the time of this Policy, Tabon may use OpenAI services for this purpose.
If Tabon changes the external AI provider in a way that materially changes who receives user data, we will update this Privacy Policy and any required in-product disclosure before using the new provider for that data.
4.5 Storage of AI Samples
Tabon does not intentionally store the transmitted table sample in its application database or retain it as a long-term copy of the user's extracted table. The sample is processed for the requested AI operation and discarded from Tabon's transient processing flow after the result is produced, subject to limited security, network, or error records that do not intentionally contain the full extracted dataset.
External AI providers process information under their applicable service and privacy terms. Tabon limits the information sent to the minimum reasonably necessary for the requested AI function.
4.6 User Control
If you do not enable or request the optional AI feature, Tabon does not send table samples to an AI provider for that feature. Users should avoid AI processing for confidential or sensitive content unless they are authorized to transmit that content.
5. Browser Permissions and Why They Are Required
5.1 General Permission Principle
Tabon requests browser permissions only when they are necessary to provide its disclosed single purpose. Permissions are not requested for unrelated advertising, behavioral profiling, or resale of user data.
5.8 Remote Code
Tabon does not use remotely hosted executable code in the browser extension. JavaScript and other executable logic required by the extension are packaged with the extension and are subject to browser-store review.
Tabon may communicate with remote services for non-code data such as account or subscription verification, security responses, or an AI-generated result when the user invokes an optional AI feature. Such responses are treated as data and are not downloaded and executed as remote extension code.
6. How Information Is Used
6.1 Providing the Requested Extraction Service
We use the minimum information necessary to detect structured webpage data, maintain the extraction session, preview results, and create the Excel or CSV export requested by the user.
6.2 Account and Paid Feature Administration
Account, license, and subscription information may be used to authenticate a user, determine whether paid functionality is available, process account-related requests, prevent misuse, and provide customer support.
6.3 Reliability, Security, and Abuse Prevention
Limited technical information may be used to diagnose errors, maintain availability, enforce rate limits, detect abuse, and protect the Services and users.
6.4 Product Improvement
We may use aggregated or non-content operational information to understand feature reliability and improve performance. We do not use extracted webpage content to create advertising audiences or sell market-research datasets about our users.
7. Data Sharing and Third Parties
7.1 No Sale of User Data
Tabon does not sell user data, extracted webpage content, browsing activity, or personal information to data brokers, advertising networks, or other third parties.
7.2 Service Providers
Tabon may use service providers only where reasonably necessary to operate the Services, such as infrastructure hosting, account or subscription processing, email/support delivery, security services, and the optional AI processing described in Section 4.
Service providers are permitted to process information only for the service they provide to Tabon or as required by law. They are not authorized by Tabon to use extracted webpage data for unrelated advertising or resale.
7.3 AI Provider
When optional AI processing is used, the limited sample described in Section 4 may be processed by OpenAI or another provider that is specifically disclosed by Tabon before such processing begins.
7.4 Legal and Safety Disclosures
We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, or governmental request; to investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents; or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Tabon, our users, or the public.
7.5 Business Transfers
If Tabon is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction only in accordance with applicable law and the privacy commitments in effect at the time. Where required, users will be notified or asked for consent before materially different uses of their data.
8. Data Retention
8.1 Extracted Webpage Content
Core extracted webpage data is processed locally for the active extraction workflow. Tabon does not maintain a server-side archive of every table or dataset that a user exports.
8.2 Local Extension Settings
Browser-managed extension settings may remain on the device until they are cleared, reset, or the extension is removed, subject to the browser's own storage behavior.
8.3 Account and Subscription Information
Account, license, and subscription information is retained for as long as needed to provide the relevant service, maintain transaction and entitlement records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and satisfy applicable legal or accounting obligations.
8.4 Support and Security Records
Support communications and limited security or diagnostic records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which they were collected, including resolving a request, investigating abuse, maintaining service security, and meeting legal obligations.
9. Data Security
9.1 Transmission Security
When information must be transmitted to Tabon services or an authorized service provider, Tabon uses encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections where supported and appropriate.
9.2 Data Minimization
Tabon is designed to minimize the amount of data transmitted outside the browser. In particular, the core extraction workflow is local, and optional AI processing uses a limited sample rather than the full exported dataset.
9.3 Access Controls
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to limit unauthorized access to systems and information. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so users should avoid processing information they are not authorized to access or transmit.
10. User Choices and Rights
10.1 Control of Extraction
You control which webpage you open, when you start Tabon, which extraction mode you use, and whether you export the detected data.
10.2 Control of Optional AI Features
You may choose not to use optional AI processing. When the AI feature is not enabled or requested, the table sample described in Section 4 is not sent to an AI provider for that feature.
10.3 Access, Correction, and Deletion
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that Tabon maintains about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
Requests may be sent to we@tabon.io. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
10.4 Removing Local Extension Data
You may remove Tabon from your browser or clear extension data using browser controls. Removing the extension generally removes browser-managed local extension data, subject to the browser's own synchronization and retention behavior.
11. Children's Privacy
11.1 Age Limitation
Tabon is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Tabon, contact us at we@tabon.io.
12. International Processing
12.1 Cross-Border Services
Tabon may be used globally. Information processed by Tabon or its service providers may be handled in countries other than the user's country of residence. Where required, we take reasonable steps to apply appropriate protections to such processing.
13. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
13.1 Limited Use Commitment
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
13.2 Core Function Limitation
Tabon uses data obtained through browser permissions only to provide or improve the extension's disclosed single purpose and related operational needs such as security, reliability, and abuse prevention. Tabon does not transfer or use such data for personalized advertising, data brokerage, creditworthiness, or lending purposes.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
14.1 Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy when Tabon's functionality, data practices, service providers, or legal obligations change. The current version will be posted at https://tabon.io/info/privacy.html with an updated "Last Updated" date.
14.2 Material Changes
If a change materially expands the categories of user data collected, the purposes for which data is used, or the parties with whom user data is shared, Tabon will provide any additional disclosure or consent required by applicable law or browser-store policy before applying the new practice.
